I’ve heard plenty of reasons why small/medium businesses don’t have social media pages and/or websites. As a marketer, I can’t help but feel a little frustrated when I hear something like the following.
• I don’t know how to use Social Media
• My customers don’t go online
• Social media is a fad
• I’m a business to business company, so I don’t need to be online
• I’ve been in business X amount of years and I’ve gotten along just fine without
If only these people knew what I knew, I used to think. Thankfully, this blog has given me the chance to pass some insight along to you.
First, I will admit that social media can be intimidating, but you have to get over it. The above excuses just don’t cut it anymore. With 1/3 of the worlds population on the Internet, it’s time for businesses of all sizes to realize that they need to have an online presence.
Second, did you know that 78% of Internet users conduct product research online? If your information isn’t coming up in a search because you don’t have anything online, you’re probably getting passed up by potentials.
Lucky for you, Facebook is super easy to use, which is why it is used by 93% of adult users. While I also recommend a website for every single business, at the very least, every business needs to have a Facebook page.
It is free, easy to use, and allows you to advertise your products, services, hours, and events; all the while keeping your customers and/or prospects engaged.
Third and finally, I want to reinforce that there are no excuses! That’s why, for the month of March only, Magnus will be running a promotion for every business out there who needs help getting online.
